Bonnettie
gîte is
a peaceful haven deep in the Quercy countryside. The Domaine de La Bonnettie
is country property set in over 60 acres of woodland and pasture. The
main house and gîte sit atop a plateau that dominates the surrounding
valleys. A private drive of almost 1000 metres leads you from the valley
floor and climbs gently to the main plateau which is at about 230m above
sea level.

Crystal
air and clear light make the sprawling countryside a perfect sea of
colour for the artistically inspired - sunflowers, lavender and vineyards
appeal to the eye and to the palate. Sunsets can be quite spectacular here and because their is virtually no light polution, the milky way is often stunningly "close".

If painting, writing or just general
peace and quiet do not appeal, then perhaps wine-tasting and the gastronomic
delights of the area will tempt you. For the more energetic, there is
swimming in the lake nearby, cycling, horse riding and tennis just down
the road. A nine hole golf course is about 25kms away and you can take
a boat trip or dinner on the river Lot starting at Cahors. There are
lots of lovely walks on the property itself, you could take a picnic
into the woods for instance, and from here we have access to many
miles of foot and bridal paths.

Lavender again. . Our 30 acre woods in the distance.

If it is culture you're after, there is plenty in the surrounding area.
Montcuq, the local market village boasts a 12th century tower, it is
quite a climb to the top, but worth it for the view! There is a famous
market there every Sunday morning, an experience not to be missed!
Lauzerte,
classified as one of "the most beautiful villages of France" is just 14kms
away. Cahors, the capital of the Lot has a medieval monastry whose monks
lay claim to being the first winemakers in France, the Pont Valentre
is a spectacle unto itself and you can poke around Henry the IV's french
pad. A little further afield is Moissac, a Roman town with its famous
'Cloitre'. Toulouse, 'The Pink City' and another ancient Roman settlement
is about a 1.5 hour drive away. and the bustling capital of the Midi-Pyrenees.
The nearest
shops are about 10/14 kms away, reached through meandering country lanes
where it is rare to meet another car.
